It’s 2025. I am now a librarian in title, though not yet in employment.

When I started Infinite House of Books as a book blogger, it was out of a love for books and reading.

I strongly am leaning toward opening this space to book blogs by other authors, bringing this space back to its roots. It would showcase all genres, and not publish on a regular schedule.

Keep an eye out.

Shannon Muir’s Discover Words and Own Your Own Tale officially spin off as their own brands in 2025.

Shannon Muir’s Discover Words moves from focusing on video logs for authors and audio tales to being a video book review platform.

Own Your Own Tale maintains its Journaling focus, but will add short inspirational videos and quotes, as well as have a Journaling group in the virtual world Second Life in partnership with Virtual World Stories.

Shannon Muir started out publishing e-books, and later branched out to book blog tours under the INFINITE HOUSE OF Bretailers. in 2013. She continued featuring tours on that site, and on a sister site, THE PULP AND MYSTERY SHELF, until professional obligations had her put the blog tours on hold in 2021. Now, after completing a Masters of Library Science degree, Shannon is bringing the INFINITE HOUSE OF BOOKS brand back for book blogs in 2025.

For her history in her first five years of book blogging there is a value priced 99 cent USD e-book at Amazon Kindle, Barnes and Noble, Rakuten Kobo and other e-book retailers.

Wow… it has been an amazing year.

Last summer, I attended the American Library Association national conference, mainly just to work their booth but also to present at the San Jose State University iSchool’s poster session – it was the same poster I presented at the California Library Association.

I took a lot of engaging classes in school this year, too diverse to list. I am so glad to have gotten exposure to so much about libraries.

This year, I had my first internship in a library to finish up some dangling requirements from a community college Library Technician certificate. I spent time in a public library, mainly the children’s section, but got to experience other areas of the library too.

I also participated on the Executive Leaderships of two student groups. I served as Blog Editor for our iSchool’s UX group, and Web Coordinator for the ALA Student Chapter. Our student chapter received Student Chapter of the Year from the ALA, and I am scheduled to be part of the team to accept the award at the end of June.

December 2024 is supposed to be the end of the program for me. We will see what the next six months brings.

It has been an interesting last few months. Not long after my prior post, my job that I had been at for over five years as an employee ended. In some ways this was not so great, but in other ways good because it freed me up to be able to attend several library conferences.

In June of 2023, I attended both the California Library Association conference and the American Library Association conference, and done student poster presentations at the school receptions. In July of 2023, I will be attending parts of the Librarian and Educator track at San Diego Comic-Con.

And that’s just in person.

Virtually, I have done a poster presentation in Second Life for the Virtual Worlds Best Practices in Education conference in March 2023; that experience was what was featured on my poster for both the CLA and ALA receptions as I weighed pros and cons of the virtual environment. Also in July 2023, in conjunction with people I have been volunteering for through the Virtual Worlds Education Consortium, we recently did presentations in Second Life and in Kitely about the Virtual Worlds Community Database they are maintaining using Airtable.

It has been an amazing rollercoaster ride for my first year in the world of Library Science as I see the infinite world beyond books, and hope for more to come.

When I started this site, e-books were just emerging, and I also did book reviews for authors. However, the definition of what constitutes a book has evolved in those years. I am so glad I chose a name such as INFINITE HOUSE OF BOOKS. It emphasizes a visionary direction that first this exploration of everything a book can be.

It is also important to know I am spending more time looking at the metaverse in terms of communication and information. That will work into part of the journey here.

After a bit of a hiatus, Shannon Muir’s Infinite House of Books is back with a wider mission and purpose!

Originally designated as a book blog featuring book tours and author interviews, and later branching out into short story and poetry e-books, Shannon Muir’s Infinite House of Books will go back to its initial roots of providing information about books and the people who author them, along with following Shannon Muir Broden’s journey as she studies for her Masters of Library Science at San Jose University.

However, the information will not be provided on this site via blog tours (at this time) but by Shannon Muir’s personal literature discoveries.
